Bipolar Disorder Bipolar disorder , also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and the ability to carry out day-to-day tasks. There are four basic types of bipolar disorder; all of them involve clear changes in mood, energy, and activity levels. These moods range from periods of extremely “up,” elated, and energized behavior (known as manic episodes) to very sad, “down,” or hopeless periods (known as depressive episodes). Less severe manic periods are known as hypomanic episodes. Bipolar I Disorder — defined by manic episodes that last at least 7 days, or by manic symptoms that are so severe that the person needs immediate hospital care. Usually, depressive episodes occur as well, typically lasting at least 2 weeks. Episodes of depression with mixed features (having depression and manic symptoms at the same time) are also possible. Bipolar II Disorder — defined by a pattern of depressive epis...

Neurophysiology Neurophysiology is a medical subject of neuroscience and physiology which deals with the functioning of the central and peripheral nervous system which includes cellular networks, sub-cellular sections, and also single cells. This study regularly uses electrophysiological or molecular biological tool to display the function of nerves and the total system related to it. In some of the current neurophysiology articles it has been stated that the decided output to do any action in frontal cortex results from the processing of several inputs from the environment, the internal milieu and from the other segments of cerebral cortex . Brain Tumors Respond To Diet And Radiation Therapy Brain cancer researchers have successfully treated mice with malignant gliomas, a type of aggressive and deadly brain tumor , with a unique combination of radiation therapy and ketogenic diet, a high fat, low carbohydrate and minimal protein regime that forces the body to use fat instead of sugar for energy. Should the approach succeed in human trials, they say the diet could quickly and easily be added to current human brain tumor treatments. Ketogenic Diet The ketogenic diet is a high fat, low carbohydrate, controlled protein diet that has been used since the 1920s to treat epilepsy. The word ketogenic means the body produces ketones  (keto = ketone, genic = producing). Usually the body converts carbohydrates (from foods like sugar, bread, pasta) into glucose (a type of sugar) to use for energy. In the ketogenic diet, because of the restriction in carbohydrate intake, the body can't use glucose and ...

Pediatric neurology or child neurology refers to a specialized branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and management of neurological conditions in neonates (newborns), infants, children and adolescents. The discipline of child neurology encompasses diseases and disorders of the spinal cord , brain , peripheral nervous system , autonomic nervous system , muscles and blood vessels that affect individuals in these age groups. If a child has problems that involve the nervous system, a pediatric neurologist has the specialist training and knowledge to assess, diagnose and treat the child. The conditions dealt with by pediatric neurologists vary considerably, from relatively simple disorders such as migraine or cerebral palsy through to more complex and rare conditions such as metabolic disease or neurodegenerative disorders. Examples of the types of conditions encountered by specialists in this field include: Genetic diseases of the nervous system Congeni...

What everyone needs to know about psychology? It is common knowledge that public understanding of psychology is typically aligned with the mental health and intervention aspects of the discipline. Most people think of psychologists as clinicians and counselors. Few understand that psychology is the science of behavior, cognition and emotion. Even fewer recognize psychology as a STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics) discipline. People do not generally associate psychologist with scientist. APA has been doing public opinion polls to get a better handle on what people do and do not understand about psychology. The data are revealing: When survey respondents are asked the first thing that comes to mind when they think of the field of psychology, they most often use words associated with illness, helping people, and treatment. Very rarely do people spontaneously mention anything about research on mind, brain or behavior. Most adults in the United States say ...

What is Color Psychology? Color psychology is the study of colors in relation to human behavior. It aims to determine how color affects our day to day decisions such as the items we buy. Does the color of a dress compel us into purchase? Do the colors of a package make us choose one brand over another? Does the color of an icon make us more likely to click on it? The short answer is yes. But the why part is a bit more complicated. Color meanings can have an impact on why we prefer certain colors over others. The same color can also have different meanings that are dependent on our upbringing, gender, location, values, and a variety of other factors.

Better Diet, Better Mental Health A healthy diet includes a full range of vegetables, fruits, legumes (lentils, chickpeas, beans), fish, whole grains (rice, quinoa, oats, breads, etc.), nuts, avocados and olive oil to support a healthy brain. Sweet and fatty foods should be special treats, not the staples of your diet. People who eat a diet high in whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, whole grains, legumes, fish and unsaturated fats (like olive oil) are up to 35% less likely to develop depression than people who eat less of these foods.3,4 Highly processed, fried and sugary foods have littlenutritional value and should be avoided. Research shows that a diet that regularlyincludes these kinds of foods can increase the risk of developing depression byas much as 60%.5,6

https://coalesceresearchgroup.com/…/cerebrospinal-comp…/OTM4 World Congress on Neuroscience and Brain Disorders March 30-31, 2020 Kyoto, Japan # Cerebrospinal   fluid (CSF) is a pure, colorless body fluid found in the brain and spinal cord. #Cerebrospinal fluid has three main functions: It protects   # brain and   # spinal   cord from trauma, deliveries nutrients to   # nervous   system tissue, removes waste products from cerebral metabolism. CSF leaks occur through a communication between the facing of the brain and the nose. These communications may occur spontaneously or result from trauma or earlier sinonasal surgery. Complications may occur if the cause is surgery or trauma. Infections after surgery or trauma can lead to meningitis and serious complications, such as swelling of the #brain. Maximum CSF leaks are a complication of a #spinal tap or   # surgery . CSF occupies the subarachnoid space (between the arachnoidmater...

Vascular dementia is a generalterm describing problems with reasoning, planning, judgment, memory and otherthought processes caused by brain damage from impaired blood flow to yourbrain. You can develop vascular dementia after astroke blocks an artery in your brain, but strokes don't always cause vascular dementia.

Neuroanatomy is the study of the structure and organizationof the nervous system. In contrast to animals with radial symmetry, whosenervous system consists of a distributed network of cells, animals withbilateral symmetry have segregated, defined nervous systems. Their neuroanatomyis therefore better understood. In vertebrates, the nervous system issegregated into the internal structure of the brain and spinal cord (togethercalled the central nervous system, or CNS) and the routes of the nerves that connectto the rest of the body (known as the peripheral nervous system, or PNS). Thedelineation of distinct structures and regions of the nervous system has beencritical in investigating how it works. For example, much of whatneuroscientists have learned comes from observing how damage or"lesions" to specific brain areas affects behavior or other neuralfunctions.

https://coalesceresearchgroup.com/con…/neuroscience/sessions #Brain Cancer and Tumors#Brain cancers happen when one type of cell transforms from its general characteristics. Once it gets transmuted, the cells grow and multiply in abnormal ways forming a cancerous growth of cell mass. The early symptoms includes severe #headaches and drowsiness early in the morning, sudden convulsions with involuntary movements of a person's muscles, personality or memory changes, fatigue, nausea or vomiting and sleep problems. The main causes for most brain cancer are unknown. Quiet genetic factors, strong dose of radiation to the head, environmental toxins and consumption of tobacco all of these have been linked to #braincancer.
